AMSURG is currently the top participant, out of 10 total participating ambulatory surgery center (ASC) companies and hospital outpatient departments (HOPDs), in educational activities for a national safety program.   10 AMSURG Centers Participating in National Safety Program:   Gateway Surgery Center, Phoenix, Ariz. The Surgery Center of Middle Tennessee, Columbia, Tenn. Bethesda Outpatient Surgery Center, Boynton Beach, Fla. Kenwood Surgery Center, Kenwood, Ohio Wilton Surgery Center, Wilton, Conn. Surgery Center of Long Beach, Long Beach, Calif. Herndon Surgery Center, Fresno, Calif. Hudson Crossing Surgery Center, Fort Lee, N.J. Arkansas Valley Surgery Center, Canon City, Colo. Davis Surgery Center, Davis, Calif.   The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) 12-month Safety Program for Ambulatory Surgery has an aim of “zero harm for patients undergoing care in the ambulatory surgery setting.” According to the AHRQ website, the program provides participating facilities and management firms the opportunity to:  Demonstrate the quality of care they are providing within their state, region, or management companyMitigate harm and manage risk through the use of tested quality improvement and patient safety tools and strategies designed specifically for the ambulatory surgery settingShowcase the exemplary work and ideas that are occurring across the country with other facilities through peer-to-peer learning and networking opportunitiesReceive  one-on-one coaching and mentoring by a Quality Improvement Advisor throughout their program participationBenchmark data with other facilities across their state and nation
