AMSURG partner James McHale, M.D.,Columbus Eye Surgery Center, was featured on WBSNS-10TV, a local news station in central Ohio, discussing how diabetes can affect a person’s vision. November is American Diabetes Awareness Month and more than 29 million people in the United States have diabetes. McHale offers eye health tips for people with diabetes.
“If you have diabetes, you’ve got to be seeing your ophthalmologist at least once a year,” McHale said. “Early on in the disease, there could be no symptoms at all. You could be seeing well, thinking everything is fine, but on an exam we can pick up bleeding or damage to the blood vessels.”
