AMSURG Partner Dr. Katherine Kosche Explains Why Fecal Transplant May Help Those With Chronic Diarrhea

AMSURG partner Katherine Kosche, M.D., Weston Outpatient Surgical Center, was featured in theMiami Herald discussing fecal transplant as an option to help those who suffer from chronic diarrhea. Kosche explained that an infection called clostridium difficile infection (CDI), which causes chronic diarrhea and was once only common in older patients, is becoming more common in a variety of patients, young and old. Fecal transplant is a procedure where good bacteria from one patient is infused into the gastrointestinal (GI) of the patient infected with CDI.
