Cataract Innovator is the gold standard for AMSURG ophthalmology centers; it is also a program designed to assist AMSURG ophthalmology centers in the process of achieving Cataract Innovator status.   To be considered a Cataract Innovator for Pre Op Efficiencies, the following must be in place at the center:Patient Education is completed prior to arrival with recommended detailed Patient Information Brochures, Centralized Scheduler/Patient Education Coordinator and automated appointment reminder system as presented in MD1Post Op instructions are reviewed with patient and family member during the Pre Op process prior to surgeryFirst 2 patients of the day are scheduled to arrive at same timePatient is transferred throughout surgery process via eye stretcher chairPatient is prepositioned on eye stretcher chair in Pre OpLast patient on schedule for the day is called to arrive earlier to fill any same day cancellations/no showsCenter’s “cataract innovator task force” evaluates all Pre Op processes to eliminate inefficiencies and improve organization   Cataract Innovator Centers for Pre Op Efficiencies: Connecticut Eye Surgery Center South Milford, Conn.
