Study at Lancaster Gastroenterology Procedure Center Results in ADRs Comparable to Centers of Excellence

study performed at the Lancaster Gastroenterology Procedure Center in Lancaster, Pa., found that an efficient, high volume endoscopy center can achieve adenoma detection rates (ADRs) comparable to rates achieved in reference centers of excellence.

Results from this story were presented by Frederick Saunders, M.D., FACP, FACG, at the American College of Gastroenterology’s 2012 Annual Scientific Meeting in Las Vegas in October. The study also supported ADR as a quality standard for private gastrointestinal endoscopy practice. Lastly, the study revealed that endoscopist and staff awareness of ADR monitoring, protocol modification and education improves outcomes, particularly in the right colon.
