Did you know that colon cancer – along with risks for other cancers, heart disease, diabetes and additional diseases  – can run in families? As your loved ones gather for the holidays, consider taking time to discuss your family’s health history. By doing so, you may discover clues which can help you and your doctor identify potential concerns and take preventive action, such ascolon cancer screening, to maintain good health.

In 2004, the U.S. Surgeon General designated Thanksgiving as National Family History Day. Talk with your family this year and document your findings with the web-based “My Family Health Portrait” tool.

Learning more about your shared health history today can help protect you and your family in the future.
