President of AMSURG
Jeff Snodgrass joined as President of AMSURG in 2020. In this role, he leads one of the nation’s largest ambulatory surgery center operations in the delivery of essential, high-quality care to patients. Snodgrass previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Azura Vascular Care (formerly Fresenius Vascular Care) and National Cardiology Partners, where he led the company’s vascular and cardiology outpatient, interventional and surgical business units. Under his leadership, Azura Vascular Care experienced unprecedented growth and transformed from an office-based outpatient business to an ambulatory surgical care company. Snodgrass also served as the Chief Financial Officer at inVentiv Health and spent more than 17 years at Merck & Co. in a number of leadership positions in finance and marketing, including Vice President of Finance. Jeff earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Penn State University.
Quality and Clinical Services
Nina Goins joined AMSURG in 2019 as Vice President of Quality and Clinical Services. Goins has more than 30 years of healthcare leadership, quality and safety experience. Before joining AMSURG, she served as Vice President of Quality and Performance Improvement with Ardent Health Services, where she helped to establish the Quality Department and improve quality metrics across the organization. This included developing a Patient Safety Organization listed with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Goins has worked with a range of healthcare organizations in Middle Tennessee, including St. Thomas Health Services, Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) and Sound Physicians (previously Cogent Healthcare). Goins earned her nursing degree from St. Mary’s Nursing School and University of Tennessee and a Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University.
John Grant serves as AMSURG Division President for Multispecialty and Ophthalmology Services. Before joining AMSURG in 2004, Grant held executive positions with several healthcare corporations in the Southeast, including LifeTrust America, Arcon Healthcare and HCA, Inc. Grant has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Georgia and a Master of Business Administration and Master of Health Administration from Georgia State University.
Barbara Hanania joined AMSURG in 2005. Before serving in her current role as Division President, she held positions of Regional Vice President and Senior Division Vice President. With a wealth of experience in healthcare, as well as finance, she held management positions at CIGNA Health Care and First Chicago Corporation. Hanania received her Bachelor’s in English and Education from the State University of New York, and holds a Master’s in Business Administration in Marketing from Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina.
Katie Lamb joined AMSURG in 2007 and serves as Vice President of Human Resources. She is responsible for overseeing all areas of HR for AMSURG corporate offices and ambulatory surgery centers. With a goal of employee engagement, Lamb has led the development of coaching, learning and wellness programs to support the AMSURG culture. She has also led HR diligence and integration planning in multiple corporate and surgery center transactions during her time at AMSURG. Prior to joining AMSURG, Lamb was a Senior Human Resources Manager with Aspect Software. Lamb holds a Bachelor’s in Organizational Communication.
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Tom Sloan joined AMSURG in 1994 and in July 2017 became Vice President and CFO – Ambulatory Operations. From July 2004 through July 2017 he was Vice President of Financial Services and Controller of AMSURG. From October 1994 through July 2004 Sloan held various positions with the company in accounting, finance, operations and revenue management. He was designated a Certified Public Accountant by the State of Tennessee and his prior experience includes working at a national public accounting firm auditing clients in healthcare and other industries. Sloan earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from the John Cook School of Business at Saint Louis University.
Sandy Clingan Smith joined AMSURG in 2012 and serves as Vice President of Marketing for AMSURG’s ambulatory services division. Smith has more than 30 years of experience in marketing, strategy and brand management. Prior to joining AMSURG, she served as Senior Vice President for Captain D’s, Vice President of Marketing for Doctors Vision Center and Brand Manager for Quaker Oats and Frito Lay. She earned a Bachelor’s in Economics from Duke University and a Master’s in Business Administration in Marketing and Finance from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
Mark Wainner serves as AMSURG Vice President of Partnership Growth. His role includes building partnerships with alternative (non-traditional) payors, primary care/accountable care organizations (ACOs) and companies that market services to self-insured employers (e.g. Healthcare Bluebook). He will also continue to develop our Management Services Organization (MSO) capabilities. Part of the AMSURG team since 1997, Wainner has held various management positions from corporate services to business development to center operations. Active in the local healthcare community, Wainner is a 2013 fellow with the Nashville Health Care Council Fellows program, former chair of Leadership Healthcare, and a former board member of the Nashville Health Care Council. He was also the president of the Tennessee Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (TASCA) from 2008 to 2009. Wainner has a Bachelor of Finance from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
