Empowering consumers with better price and quality information across all outpatient surgery settings is an important consumer right that will lead to reduced health care spending, AmSurg CEO Chris Holden told a Congressional sub-committee.
On May 6, 2010, Holden was invited to represent the ASC Advocacy Committee (ASCAC) at a hearing before the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Subcommittee on Health. This was the first time the ASC industry had been asked to testify before a congressional committee.
Holden; alongside representatives of the American Hospital Association, representatives of small business, experts on trade and consumer behavior, and leaders of state quality reporting initiatives; spoke about the importance of the “Patients Right to Know Act” (H.R. 4803).
