AMSURG partner Antonio Granda, M.D., St. Thomas Medical Group Endoscopy Center of Nashville, Tenn. has been recognized by Nashville Medical News for his effort to bring awareness of gastroenterology conditions to Middle Tennessee.
According to Nashville Medical News, Granda was drawn to gastroenterology as a student when fiber optics were under development and the endoscope was created. Since joining the specialty, Granda has worked to encourage people to get screening colonoscopies in order to detect colon cancer and has added his expertise to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) research and treatment. Granda has worked with StopColonCancerNow to create “Keeping up with the Kolonoscopy,” a YouTube web series that shows a real-life colonoscopy experience using humor to defuse the fear of getting a colonoscopy.
