AMSURG Partner Parag Chokshi, M.D., Sun City Endoscopy Center, was featured in a health news story reported by AZ Central talking about a new treatment option for patients suffering from gastrointestinal infections such as C. diff.
C. diff is a bacterial infection that can cause abdominal pain, diarrhea and even life-threatening inflammation to the colon. These infections are usually caused by a lack of good bacteria in the colon. Fecal transplants involve taking the stool from a healthy donor and placing it in the colon of the patient with the infection in order to help good bacteria grow again in the colon. Chokshi believes that fecal transplants are showing great promise.
