National GIQuIC Colonoscopy Quality Registry Reaches 1 Million Cases Benchmark

The GI Quality Improvement Consortium, Ltd. (GIQuIC) recently announced that their national registry of endoscopic procedures now includes data on more than one million colonoscopy cases. GIQuIC is sponsored by theAmerican College of Gastroenterology and theAmerican Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

In 2013,GIQUIC and AMSURG formed a collaboration to offer GIQuIC to all AMSURG centers. With this agreement, AMSURG provides the first level of technical support to the centers and assists with system specifications to maximize full data capture. Benchmarking reports provide valuable comparative data across all centers. GIQUIC has recently been approved as a qualified clinical data registry, so PQRS reporting can be done through GIQuIC. At the present time, colonoscopies performed at AMSURG centers account for 220,000 of the 1 million GIQuIC records.
